Global Infrastructure – Americas

Global Infrastructure – Americas is a US-based programme to give determined, logical Analysts with a flair for problem-solving a broad-ranging introduction to Operations and Compliance. Our Infrastructure professionals add real value to the operations of HSBC because they understand how the Bank works. This ethos is core to this programme, and it will give you a platform for a career that could allow you to specialise in one of a variety of different areas long term.

Global challenges, global solutions

The global nature of the Infrastructure responsibilities will really stand out. There is no silo working here, you will operate across borders – including Latin America, Europe, Middle East and Africa, and across Asia. You will form relationships with colleagues in all locations, giving you access to knowledge, experience and perspectives that will ensure you add continuing value to every piece of work you are involved in.

Variety of rotations

Following your six-week induction in London, alongside new starters from all areas of the Bank, you will experience a number of different rotations – focusing on Compliance and Operations, but also Finance and Risk Management. You will gain an understanding of how these areas work, but also how they work together on behalf of HSBC. This will allow you to create highly developed solutions to complex issues faced by a large global business like HSBC.

The Global Infrastructure – Americas programme will also give you the opportunity to work across Operations and Compliance, cultivating skills such as cost control, profit and loss management, and risk analysis so that you can add real value to important projects and transactions from day one.

Compliance

Your Compliance rotation will teach you to help manage HSBC's relationships with global regulators, protecting our reputation and promoting our culture of doing the right thing for our clients and the Bank.

Broadly speaking, your experience here will fall into three categories:

  • Enabling HSBC to prove to regulatory authorities that we are behaving in a fit and proper fashion
  • Helping line management to comply with regulations
  • Helping the Bank avoid sanctions

Operations

Your exposure to the Operations team will see you help settle the trades dealt by Global Banking and Markets across the world, and work closely with colleagues from other main offices in London, Paris, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Manila. You will also learn how to help control the activity of HSBC across a variety of products, processes and systems.

If you are articulate, bright, methodical and credible with people at all levels, this programme could put you on the path towards an influential and potentially senior career.

The HSBC Summer Analyst Programme lasts for 10 weeks and is designed for ambitious penultimate year university students. This is a non-rotational programme taking place predominantly in our main hubs: London, New York, Hong Kong and Dubai. Our extensive range of opportunities covers all areas of Global Banking, Global Markets, Global Research, all areas of Global Infrastructure, HTS GBM Technology, Global Asset Management and Global Private Banking.

Whichever discipline you choose, the programme will act as a comprehensive introduction to that area of the Bank. Your programme will provide you with the platform to be considered for our full-time Global Businesses Analyst Programme (GBAP). You will have the opportunity to show your genuine potential and develop the behaviours, skills and experience essential to enjoy a long-term career with us at HSBC.

The programme will comprise hands-on experience, excellent technical, behavioural and IT skills training and the opportunity to form very important networks with peers and business leaders alike. Just as importantly, each programme will act as an introduction to the culture and values of HSBC.

Taking all of these elements collectively, the HSBC Summer Analyst programme acts as an extended 'assessment centre' for people looking to join HSBC as a Full-Time Analyst once they finish university.
