Diversity and Inclusion team
Diversity is part of the DNA at HSBC. Since 1865 HSBC's business has been built on our heritage, deep roots in many different countries and regions and globally mobile management culture – diversity is central to the HSBC brand. The Diversity and Inclusion team aims to ensure people feel valued and that they are working in an environment where discrimination, bullying and harassment are not tolerated, and employees feel their opinions count, their views are heard and their concerns are addressed.
Training and development
Specific e-learning Diversity training modules currently exist to educate employees on what diversity in the workplace means and how we, as an organisation, can be more inclusive through unconscious bias training.
Internal networks
Employee resource network groups are voluntary and are formed to support a diverse and inclusive work environment within the context of an organisation's values, brand and business strategy. Balance, our internal network, works closely with the Diversity and Inclusion team to support the recruitment, development, advancement and engagement of a gender-balanced workforce within HSBC.
Our Pre-university outreach offers students in sixth form the opportunity to learn about our organisation, our various divisions and roles through events and conferences.
An Insight into HSBC, sponsored by our Balance Network will provide female participants with an insight into our business. It will offer the opportunity to meet industry professionals and learn about our organisation first hand. The schedule has been carefully structured to allow maximum exposure to the culture and the people of HSBC through interactive presentations and networking sessions.
Please note that this programme is aimed at female sixth form or college students studying either A Levels or International Baccalaureate.
At the university stage we increase our commitment to diversity by broadening the talent pool which we recruit from to actively seek under-represented groups such as women and ethnic minorities through our partnership with external vendors such as SEO London and The Brokerage City Link.
The HSBC Women's Conference, sponsored by our Balance Network will give first- and penultimate-year female university students the opportunity to learn about HSBC, our various businesses and diverse culture. The schedule has been carefully designed to provide attendees with the opportunity to meet business representatives from key areas of the firm, through interactive business presentations, soft skills training sessions and networking events.
Please note that the event is aimed at first and penultimate year female European university students.
